Harmoni Nilai Buddhis dan Modernitas: Kajian Kebudayaan dan Gaya Hidup Masyarakat Indonesia

This research explores the influence of Buddhist teachings on the culture and lifestyle of Indonesian society. Buddhism, which entered the Nusantara in the 5th century AD, has played a significant role in shaping social norms and values. This research uses the literature study method, analyzing various texts and academic sources to understand the integration of Buddhist principles into daily life. Research findings reveal that the core teachings of Buddhism, such as the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Noble Path, are reflected in Indonesian societal values like simplicity, compassion, and harmony with nature. Additionally, this research highlights the dynamic interaction between traditional Buddhist values and modernity in the contemporary era. The role of the Buddhist community in preserving local wisdom and promoting social cohesion thru initiatives such as environmental conservation and interreligious harmony is also examined. This research concludes that Buddhist values contribute positively to strengthening Indonesia's p hilosophyof "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" (Unity in Diversity), promoting peace and mutual respect in a pluralistic society. This finding confirms the enduring relevance of Buddhist teachings in navigating the complexities of modern life while preserving cultural heritage.
